Eagle
Hello John. In regards to welding the tabs. I did buy a spot welder. Not the one you bought as I could not find the link. It's rated at a max of 800 amps . If I set the gap at max and the pulse for 7 it will weld the tabs. Rated at .25 mm I think that rating is for Nickel ribbon . Who knows what the alloy of steel we are working with. Also learned not to press hard as it need a gap to form an arc strong enough for a solid weld. I'd like to get a more powerful unit. This one is double the amperage and comes with a 115 input plug {not shown]. Thought about buying one of the kits but all reviews remark that the caps are sh#t. Your thoughts. Thank You. Mark. 1600 Amp Welder

robothut
I use the nickel ribbon for the tabs. I clean the metal surface. My welder has leads running from it, so I can place 1 lead on the bear metal toy frame and the other lead on the nickel ribbon. ON my unit I find the top setting "5" does a good job.
