robobob
Is your chrome plated plastic faded and peeling ? Does Mr. Flash seem not quite so Flashy ?Tired of spraying chrome paint, or messing with foil ?Well fret no more, fellow A-drome members ... I've got a guy ! Robert Shebilski at Chrome-Tech Usa2314 Ravenswood Rd. Madison Wi. 53711, phone 608-274-9811 ChrometechHe does mostly plastic model cars, but I figured if he could do a bumper,no reason he couldn't do a radiation detector access cover, or whatever. So I sent in my faded Mr. Flash parts, including a resin cast piece, and also somepieces from one of those wind-up Cragstan walkers, along with my money.About a month later, here is what I got back !I've got to say, I was very pleased with the results !And Mr. Flash, well ... He just seems thrilled with his shiny new self !!Robert said it would be fine to post his info here, so if you need some plastic platingdone, I can definitely recommend his company. No more spray chrome for me ! B)PS ... Brian, the thought just occured to me, if you think this post might be bettersuited for the tips & tricks section, by all means relocate it to there ... Thanks, Bob
robothut
So what did it cost to have the parts done?
funkrobotik
That looks a great job, certainly has brought Flash back to life.Don't think it would work out 'cash wise' to us Europeans though.
The Toyman
Hey Robobob, that's cool, double wow in fact...the trouble is I'd want to be sending all sorts to be done including the not so rare, such as the "ears" on Mr Zerox etc ...although the cost may be prohibitive unless you strip down the whole space fleet and send the lot in one go!Mr Flash looks superb!!Noel

Joe K.
I, too, can recommend Robert's work. He did a couple chrome jobs for me, oh, at least ten years ago, now. Very professional. High quality results!

Sparkrobot
Great post Bob,And may I say that has got to be the Flashiest Mr.Flash of all time! ,,,,Thanks for the link I've saved him to my favourites he's bound to come in handy one day,and the prices seem reasonable....Also a great source for customizing parts,,I'm sure with a bit of imagination we could make some fantastic 'one offs'... Grandpa
It is a neat process at a good price. You can use it on metal, plastic, even paper. But it is not chrome, it is actually aluminum that is deposited on the part. Over time it will oxidize if you don't coat it with clear lacquer. Tinplate6
That's fantastic, the results are remarkable. For me, the only hard part is removing the required plactic parts without breaking them.
