I have this piece in my collection sans box and I can't find the English language version of the box in any of my books or catalogs (the Japanese version is in Morita's book, page 128, where it's identified as Space Monster). Might someone be able to post a photo of the box so as to confirm the name?

The gun is marked COSMO BEAM and MADE IN SINGAPORE along with the Nikko Toys logo. There's a paper sticker on the robot itself that reads MONSTER as well as the Nikko Toys logo.

Finally, anybody recognize the yellow plastic ray gun on the opposite page?

and furthermore, do any collectors out there have the 76, 77, or 79 fao catalogs showing robots?

Scartch-x had the 78 and it pictured the bandai red and blue fighter robots as well as the Horikawa blue plastic video robot.

Joe, in the back of your mind that yellow ray gun should look familiar. That was the Super Galactic Sound Gun or the Galatisches Suerschallgeschutz or the Superarma de Fuego Sonica para Conquistador de la galaxia or Superpistola Sonica per La Galassia. you liked it when I showed it to you earlier this year or last year. It has four sounds and matching lights. They really covered their bases  Made in Hong Kong for Toy Centre Limited . Logo is a square with two children back to back forming a capital M?

Phil - Thanks for the reminder about the Super Galactic Sound Gun. That's the one pictured in the catalog, allright!

Tom - I saw the 1978 FAO catalog, too. Needed to pull some info together before posting something. That Timeline entry will follow shortly.

Could somebody add the photo of the 1980 FAO catalog cover, please? Thanks!
