Sparkrobot
I took a short trip to Esher and the Sandown horse race stadium today where they were holding a big Toyfare ,I wasn't carrying much money [ allthough I did pick up my first Dalek for a reasonable price] I made sure I took my camara as last time the toyfare was here I remembered there was this great stall that specialised in Rayguns,,well luckily he was here again today,,He's a really friendly and helpfull guy and even though I couldn't afford any of his pieces today he didn't mind me taking the pictures and when I mentioned alphadrome he said he had heard of us and uses the site for reference sometimes .......All I will say now is,,Boy are you raygun collecters in for a treat!,,I will let the photo's speak for themselves as my knowledge of rayguns is very limited ,allthough I know quality when I see it ..I promised the stallholder that I would put out his name and contact addresses, so that's the first pic you will see...All prices you see will be in £ pounds..He sold a couple of nice ones today the Astroray Dalek gun for £500 and the Dalek rocket gun for £900 [ I hope I got that the right way around] There are quite a few pictures as I could't make my mind up what to leave out.. I've kept the picture size as small as possible. BTW,,As a non raygun collector my favourite gun there was the Buck Rogers Atomic Pistol with holster,,looking at it close up the condition and quality for it's age was second to none, and to me it seemed a good price.. Phil R
Spark, do not touch indeed! Great guns! I especially liked the Dalek Rocket Gun, Captain Scarlett and Zetarays. The scarce Buck Rogers U-235 steel gun in holster is also very nice. :P
dratomic
Wow! There are a number of FANTASTIC and rare guns there. Prices seem to range from really nice to a bit high (and in one or two cases, way too high), especially when you factor in the exchange rate. (Over $700 each for the Strato Gun and Hiller Atomic Water Pistols...) However... What a freakin' selection! The Dalek Rocket Gun, in particular, is a really hard one to find, and demand for it is high. I'm also in love with his selection of space walkie talkies... Some examples that I'd love to add to my collection. What a great booth. Thanks for the pics!
Fineas J. Whoopie
That booth sure would have stopped me in my tracks! I went to the collectibles show in Portland today and I didn't see anything nearly as cool as this display. Thanks so much for the great post Spark! The Toyman
Steve, thanks!!!... I am NOT MISSING the next Sandown :angry2: , what a great selection of items, the Dalek guns are superb! :o thanks ever so much for taking the trouble of posting the pics! the best I can do lately is win a dalek badge and a Rolykin, but at least it's a black one... Sparkrobot
Thanks Guys,,glad you like them.......Noel,,as you know it's a big toy fair with over 500 tables ,it's really near for me just a few miles away, but if you want to go to the next one I could meet you there, that's if you are not in Oz ;) ,,...If you are into cars and trains you couldn't get better, but to be honest for a Sci-Fi collector it can be a bit dissapointing at times...As far as robots go you really have to search hard to find anything new [ you get a lot of the same ones crop up that are a bit tatty and overpriced]..Having said that there was a nice condition Dux astroman and an Alps Rocketman but both a little bit pricey for me at the moment...I managed to pick up a boxed not so rare Palitoy red Talking Dalek for what I think was a bargain £45 [Noel?],,The box is well used but with the original cardboard insert,, the Dalek looks near mint and he talks well so I'm happy enough..Not forgetting Vectis auctions has a display there aswell ,,not so long ago they had a Diamond Planet robot in the display,,typically I didn't have my camara with me that time.. :(
Andyman
What a collection of ray guns! Thanks for sharing, Sparks.
dratomic
Spark -- you did well with the Dalek, at least based on the exchange rate. $70 or so for the Palitoy talking Dalek, boxed, is a really nice price here in the States. Congrats!
The Toyman
Hi Steve, Well done on the Dalek, that's a good price  There used to be a gang of us that used to drive down to Esher (Sandown) Fri night, book into a guest house owned by a Mrs Deadman  , unpack, go for a few beers and a curry and after a good nights sleep fill up with bacon & eggs and head to Sandown, our best stuff usually went in the car park before we set up shop. I don't see any of those friends much these days, some are still dealing and others have moved on...happy times, Brian was always there and the atmosphere was good...now all we seem to have is Ebay... and although you can acquire much more stuff it's just not quite the same...Noel
