irwin man from mars date on toplid inside reads: august 7th 1952

americans put month first, then day I was told, when read in europe it would be: 8 july 1952

maybe already known, I only could find 1953 in timeline

looks like a firm date notation to me,

also printed on other man from mars boxes?

I believe this 8-7-52 date is correct, martijn. Good eye!

Here's the 1952 Sears Christmas catalog sighting:

Those dates are great!

It's too bad more manufacturers didn't put dates on their products. Clearly, none of them were thinking about us poor, mad collectors! :)

EDIT:

I just checked my blog post on the Shooting Man From Mars and I already had 1952 as a production year. I must have gotten that date from SOMEWHERE, so apparently the 1952 date was already established. However, I've no idea where I found it... For all I know, I was going on information provided by another collector. It's nice to see the year so solidly confirmed. (And the month!)
