Grandpa
You can always cut off the brass part from the crown gear and I'm sure you have another brass gear in your junk box with the same number of teeth that you can silver solder back to the crown gear. WJN
I have a pretty large selection of gears, but it would be difficult to try to match up an exact replacement over long distance, unless you want to send the gear in question, (probably not, I probably wouldn't risk losing it in the mail) or draw me an accurate blue print. Be nice if I had one of these toys to open up, but alas.... As an alternative, I have corrected the same problem in other transmissions by attaching another gear (or two) to the surface of the mating gear. (the non-stripped one) This effectively thickens the non-stripped gear, allowing engagement in an unstripped area of the pinion. I have even done this without dissassembly of the transmission, by slotting the additional gears, slipping them in place, staggering the slots, and then attaching them to the original with tiny bolts, or solder. Of course, this technique is labor intensive, not much fun, and assumes you have the proper gears, tools, skill set & motivation to attempt it. But, I offer it as an option, if all else fails. robobob
Hey Bart,Don't know if this will help, but....I ran across this little guy while cleaning off a corner of my work table. The gear itself measures about 5/8" across, and the shaft is about 3/32". Let me know if it will do you any good.Bob

robobob
Hey Bart...Your gear is on the way...The pinion gear is just a tic bigger than the1/8 long, 3/16 wide you stated. It looks closer to 3/16 long and 1/4 wide, but then again, I'm using my plastic Sponge Bob ruler !! Hope you can use it.As for the kiss...I'll take a rain check, thanks :P
