Fineas J. Whoopie
Check out this Yoshiya Flying Saucer with Space Pilot. Believe it or not the spiral antenna is a home made replacement. Robotnut did two of these for me and I think they are amazing reproductions. The white tips are actually beads that he found somewhere (I realize that the original tips have an offset ridge to them but these are awfully close for beads). This particular saucer was not only missing the antenna when I got it but the white tips one the end of the straight antennas were replaced with some thin white tubing. Robotnut sent me some extra beads for those antennas as well. I think it looks great now. Thanks Darryl!!! :D Anyone else have any cool home made repro parts or tricks they want to share? Robotnut
Don, I'm glad they worked out !!! :) As for the beads, if you look at the one on the antenna, I actuallyground down one side to simulate the offset. I didn't think youwould get them so fast and was going to email you tonight. Asfor making the coil antenna, that's an ancient Chinese secret.Years ago I bought this home made wire bending jig from anAsian man. "Yeh, likely story". B) He built model airplanes and made the jig to bend wire. At the time,I was into RC Helicopters and bought a bunch of pieces parts from him.The jig consists of two blocks of wood, some pieces of coat hanger, alarge bolt, two washers, part of a turkey baster and a wingnut. With thisand the proper wire, I can bend just about any shape...P.S. If anyone needs an antenna for their Yoshia or Cragstan saucer, email me. I still have the jig setup for this bend, so it would be easyto make a few more... :)

Robotnut
OK, you asked for it...The turkey baster has nothing to do with the shape of thefinished coil. Just don't ask me to explain how it works... B)
