robert
Jay,the RUR robots were made as a limited edition free gift to dealers that purchased and sold a certain number of R-1 Robots. They were never for sale to general public, so they generally bring a much better price than the R-1s. Last time i saw one on ebay it went for about $150. dratomic
I tend to avoid most new robots these days, but I've always had a strange hankering for one of the RURs. I realize that it's not significantly different that any other R1 -- particularly the bare metal one -- but it does have a different pressing, and there's something nice about the whole R.U.R. and year 2000 details. A weird souvenir from when the year 2000 meant something as a gateway to "the future." I've got the R1 in red, grey, blue and bare metal, and they look pretty cool grouped together on a shelf. If I found the RUR version for a good enough price, I think I'd pick it up. Darryl, you and Mr. Jan did great -- those are the kind of prices I'd like to find... ;)
Andyman
Don't listen to Doc, He doesn't consider the yellow Rescue-1 to be a part of Rocket USA's gang of 5. :P ;)I do. I just need the blue one (and an RUR to make it an even six). Never mind the black stripe variants.

Andyman
Yeah, I was using Mr. Hetfield to show the scale of the bots on another board. Some of the other board members thought the R-1s mimicked a stack of amps quite well (unintentional, of course). ;)

Sounds like a factory mistake.BTW-yes, the hunt is half the fun! (but if anybody offers me a blue R-1, I'll take it) ;)
dratomic
Andy, it would be a bare-metal version of the litho'd pressing... so the panel remains flat. Don't know if it was a mistake or a way to squeeze a little more money out of the line...
Robotnut
Dr Atomic, the R1 I bought on eBay was supposed to be thestandard bare metal one. I bought it for a project I was goingto make. When it arrived it was the RUR so I sold it. I've neverhad any love for bare metal robots and don't own any. I couldnever see paying more for less...
