Fineas J. Whoopie
Lots of robots and space toys in this 1971 catalog. New to the timeline are -Roto Robot version with the name in the "bow tie".Zero of space - this seems to be the version seen in the Sotheby's Griffith catalog, page 88, item #244 (extreme right hand side). The version sitting to the left of this one in the griff catalog has been sighted in 1972 Eaton's Christmas catalog.Swivel Robot, this is different from the Rotate-O-Matic robot (see Botho Wagner, page 39, item #17) this robot has distinctive chest litho, thicker hands and a "bottom hollowed out" style of chest door. Does anyone know of a name other than Rotate-O-Matic for this robot? This sighting of the Mechanical Space Man (paddle foot) moves it back one year on the timeline as previously sighted in the 1972 Straco Catalog. More to come. Fineas J. Whoopie
-The following comments are from Joe K's notes on this 1971 Straco catalog.-"The Hysterical Robot picture is the same one used in this 1971 Milway Catalog: Note that in the Straco catalog it says "2 D Batteries" required. It looks like to me that in the Milway catalog the description lists the prices for "D" and "C" batteries. How can that be? Chuckling Charlie also apparently runs on "2 D Batteries" (at least according to this catalog). This "robot" is slightly different than The Laughing Clown put out by Waco. The chest label and face are not the same."
