TinWindUp
I am trying to follow the variations on the Thunder Robots but to no avail and I know that this group can help. I have seen on eBay the Brown version for a great deal of money stating that it was some number of 600 and then I see the brown one and it is much less but I can't see a difference. I also see a silver with blue hands and then one with red hands. I have also seen a "limited edition numbered" silver one. There also seems to be a chrome/nickle plate version and then the red and blue version. Can anyone give me some insight into the truth. I think I can handle it.Thanks,Bryan

Examples include ; wheels and hands, eye brow and mouth designs. Plastic lenses in the forehead & rearhead have different diamond patterns. On/ Off switch attachment varies, as do battery contact & battery doors stampping Pattern. The accordian arms can have softer or harder flex as well. Chrome platting of the mouth can differ. Box inserts vary from foam, to styro-block molded to craddle the robot. And function This is a lengthy topic, and my memory could be wrong slightyHA HA Toys makes a good one like Photo A) & B ) . Unlimited productionBrown for under $ 40 and the Silver just over $ 40 with the clear arms like the TTT Silver Thunder. Antenna's are straight. Nick in NY
I believe the silver thunder (robot B photo) has blue eyes (or bluish-green) rather than the standard green?
steve
Very nice explanation Robot Fool on the endless repro Thunder's. You are spot on how Thunder was a top ten must have for many collectors prior to these repro's and now he has just about fallen off the radar screen. This example is one of my greatest qualms concerning repro's (enough has been said about this in other threads).I still wonder about Henk's rumor (I believe it was Henk) believing that he had heard of a 2nd original silver Thunder in addition to the one found in the Japanese Toy museum.
