Joe K.
See:http://cgi.ebay.com/Japanese-Yonezawa-Toy-...1QQcmdZViewItemAnd, specifically:http://i23.ebayimg.com/04/i/04/dd/4a/00_1_b.JPGThe cover of the catalog depicts a Samurai Star Explorer/Dynamic Machine. I have this giant friction robot in my collection. There's a sticker on the robot that says "Dynamic Machine". The box names the robot as "Samurai Star Explorer".------------------------------------------------------------------------------------http://i23.ebayimg.com/02/i/04/dd/4a/58_1_b.JPGThis page shows the red, white and blue color variation of Myrobo. There is also a red, yellow and black color variation. See Morita, page 106.Also pictured is a "Flying Saucer" which I have never seen before.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------http://i10.ebayimg.com/04/i/04/db/fb/9f_1_b.JPGHere's the dark brown colored Talking Robot with litho tin chest plate. This is the initial Yonezawa version which spawned all the later blue colored ones with paper chest plates made in Hong Kong. But, here's the real eye opener!. The Singing Robot. It looks to be the exact same body as the Talking Robot. I would guess that the only difference is the record inside the "voice box".I never knew this variation existed!!! Something else to keep an eBay look-out for. This catalog would sure look good in the Toy Robot Museum. I will be actively bidding on this one. Joe K.
I won the auction and this catalog arrived in the mail today. Unfortunately, there are no other robots or space toys shown on any of the other pages. The only new information to add are the catalog numbers for the items pictured. They are:Singing Robot - #36011Talking Robot - #36014Samurai Star Explorer - #36013 - In the catalog it is simply identified as "Robot".Myrobo - #3610 - This is not a typo. It is only a four digit number.Flying Saucer - #37001 - No other name is given for this saucer, although, it is described as being 6 & 1/2" (in diameter, I assume).-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------UPDATE (August 7, 2010):Here's the Timeline thread for the red/yellow/black color variation of Myrobo, as seen in a 1976 Yonezawa Toys catalogue:http://danefield.com/alpha/forums/index.ph...t=0#entry108079
Joe K.
Also pictured is a "Flying Saucer" which I have never seen before. O.K., now, I've seen it.It's in Don Hultzman's book, Collector's Guide To Battery Toys, Second Edition, page #78 where the box is also pictured and identifies this toy as Flying Saucer!!!
