klotzm1
I love all those misspellings and incorrect use of grammer on the Japanese toy boxes. Here is a whole website dedicated to that premise...if you can't find something here to make youlaugh out loud, you might need a better sense of humor (that's humour for the Brits)www.engrish.com

larry seven
:) I'm sorry, but yes, I think that these are indeed very funny, albeit at the expense of some poor translators of yesteryear. But, that 's what they were getting paid for, and they blew it, so, HA HA! -Larry

newbiebot
I had a Mitsubishi truck where the schematic inside the hood for wiring had "brack" wires. My dad got a kick out of that one.

I fail to see the humor in this. These poor SOB's trying their best to communicate in your language. Can you imagine the mongolian cluster @#$@ that is reading Japanese written by you roundeyes? Robotnut
Plasticaugie, I can't tell if you are serious about being upset aboutthis topic, but I'll try to explain my position. I don't think anyonehere is trying to insult the people of the east, as all of us respectand enjoy their products. The humor comes from the fact thatthese products were made for the western market and slippedby the translater, the art department and the importer. Back in theearly 80's when I was in college, I wore this punky vest over myshirt. Several people had commented on the vest and ask where Ihad bought it. The vest had an oriental style with kanji characterson it. My lab partner was a guy from Hong Kong, so one day I askedhim if he knew what it said. He laughed and told me he was quitesurprised that I didn't know what was written on something thatI had been wearing to class. According to him the front of the vestsaid "Bad Food" and the back said "American Garbage".Later on, I discovered he was just being kind and the translationwas more like "Eat Sh*t" and "White Trash" !!!Sometimes they are laughing at you and not with you...
robert
great story Darryl. That's why I was always been a little reluctant to get one of those "Kanji character" tatoos that were so popular for awhile. I remember some comedian did a skit about some big black dude that got a Kanji tatoo and wore it proudly. Shortly afterwards, when some Asian guy was laughing at it he found out that it meant.. well..let's just say that it was a phrase that might be overheard in a gay bar.. ;)
