Good For A Laugh

I love all those misspellings and incorrect use of grammer on the Japanese toy boxes.

Here is a whole website dedicated to that premise...if you can't find something here to make you

laugh out loud, you might need a better sense of humor (that's humour for the Brits)

I believe Bill at Neatstuff still has these for sale.

It's the famous windup "UFO Stace Shit". Sorry if I offended

anyone, but that's what it says on the box...

Someone needs to send one of these to Jay Leno...

:) I'm sorry, but yes, I think that these are indeed very funny, albeit at the expense of some poor translators of yesteryear. But, that 's what they were getting paid for, and they blew it, so, HA HA! -Larry 7

Do you know why all "Tickle Me Elmo" dolls are male?

Because at the factory before they are shipped out they give each doll two test tickles......bu dum bum.

I had a Mitsubishi truck where the schematic inside the hood for wiring had "brack" wires. My dad got a kick out of that one.

I fail to see the humor in this. These poor SOB's trying their best to communicate in your language.

Can you imagine the mongolian cluster @#$@ that is reading Japanese written by you roundeyes?

How about Dutchmen who find grammatical and spelling mistakes in nearly every second contribution

made by native speakers. ..?

(BTW, I find "With Gleat Binking Action" and the such, hilarious!)

Plasticaugie, I can't tell if you are serious about being upset about

this topic, but I'll try to explain my position. I don't think anyone

here is trying to insult the people of the east, as all of us respect

and enjoy their products. The humor comes from the fact that

these products were made for the western market and slipped

by the translater, the art department and the importer. Back in the

early 80's when I was in college, I wore this punky vest over my

shirt. Several people had commented on the vest and ask where I

had bought it. The vest had an oriental style with kanji characters

on it. My lab partner was a guy from Hong Kong, so one day I asked

him if he knew what it said. He laughed and told me he was quite

surprised that I didn't know what was written on something that

I had been wearing to class. According to him the front of the vest

said "Bad Food" and the back said "American Garbage".

Later on, I discovered he was just being kind and the translation

was more like "Eat Sh*t" and "White Trash" !!!

Sometimes they are laughing at you and not with you...

great story Darryl. That's why I was always been a little reluctant to get one of those "Kanji character" tatoos that were so popular for awhile. I remember some comedian did a skit about some big black dude that got a Kanji tatoo and wore it proudly. Shortly afterwards, when some Asian guy was laughing at it he found out that it meant.. well..let's just say that it was a phrase that might be overheard in a gay bar.. ;)
