Horikawa gear robot for parts

Well my gear robot arrived and it has a lot of rust, I'm going to use parts from it because I have 2 Horikawa brothers that need an arm and the red round dome, this is going to require some work and tools to get it right,

 

 

 I started removing the rust from the surface with a power tool a few days ago, today some parts were bathed in rust remover

 

 

 My question is: should I buy paint stripper and remove everything? I don't know if it really makes any difference because the rust affected the paint and the sheet metal, I think it's unnecessary, I'm thinking about using soft sandpaper and then applying a primer spray and then applying the paint.

This donor robot still have good parts, it's not trash i might use it later
