Eagle
As much as I despise the hefty final cost of auctions ..When a Box the size of a small refrigerator shows up with the contents so well wrapped and protected ,,,, Well the thought of the fees just kind of melts away. Craig sure knows how to ship a box well and I'll have peanuts and bubble wrap for 8 months !
David Kirk
What did you buy to get all those peanuts?
Fineas J. Whoopie
I agree Mark. Smith House does a clinic on how to ship collectibles. And talk about quick shipping. My package was actually in the mail before the check cleared!
Eagle
Hey Don ! I like the personal touch of the non mega auction houses.About 5 yrs ago I bought a couple tin aircraft from Smith house.About a week later Craig sent a message. While prepping one of them they found damage (corrosion and litho damage). The plane would arrive late as he sent it to a restoration shop for repairs..Also sent photos of the damage. About 3 weeks later it arrived with top notch resto. (Probably sent it to Phil.) To compensate for the fees and shipping I lower my final bid price by 30%..So I don't win often. I didn't really get anything this time that would interest the group much. But the Sanchis I have been after a long time. It's 20 Long and takes 5 batteries. When the box arrived in Home Depot box,,I was in hot water for a bit. Teonia thought I bought another shop tool. Then she found out it was toys,,,,,,,,, and it was worse. Phil R
Nice vehicle, Mark! Never saw that one before. We set up today, 6/24 at the outlet mall near Gettysburg for the monthly outdoor Antique mart. Connie said if we sell enough I can get the new Tik-Tok build John just did that I wanted. Of course she also gets a new mixer and granddaughter Abigail gets money in her college fund for being a Brainiac in school this year. So there goes all the money made today. Easy come easy go. Eagle
The Beetle is a cool toy. Right now it's torn down to the bones. A phase inspection. Tracks are very fragile from being left under tension. So making replacements.
Mick_B
I hit a few lots at the last Milestone Auction. I didn’t expect the boxes to be this big, but everything was well packed. Boy did I have to do some fast talking. It was hard to get the Mrs to understand that they (Milestone) offer things up in multipart lots. So I was getting 3 robots when I was only after one. Planning to sell the extras. anyway, here’s a shot of those two boxes: no photoshopping at all, they were kinda large. one unpacked:
