Chromed Archer Figures?

Wrangled a hearty pile of Archer's and some were chromed. I'd thought it was owner-applied but all have peg holes in their feet and am now wondering what's up. The figures look great too, especially the guys with the helmets. Chrome is very evenly applied, like a machine. Looks like they were greens from where some ablated off, all vintage indicators present.

Leaving the helmets where they are. They look great on those two.

Some playwear evident, they'd been on and off whatever they were pegged to numerous times. Would enjoy learning more, and apologies if this is a subject covered on prior threads.

They look vintage...that's a new one on me.  There is always something to discover in this hobby; congratulations!

Cheers Sir! Had a feeling this could be a lucky grab. It already helped skunk out one of my stash as a Glencoe.

The entirety of the haul. Most helmets are shriveled and cracked, first thing I did was remove them from all but three.

The non chromed. Bronze guy's helmet snugly in place, won't touch it, and am wondering about the emerald green?

Comparing the emerald green with two others with the standard marbled green hue.

The emerald guy does appear to pass all other indicators as Archer made including the font on the underside of his upheld device. Which is a feature I had not known of until looking closer at that emerald green. Immediately made me think of a lavender figure in the same pose I'd never looked too carefully at.

Lavender figure's cord is less wavy, his upheld device looks narrower, and his empty hand comes to a point where his pinky should be. Lavender does have a greyish swirl but lacks the luster of the emerald green figure's plastic.

Lavender guy's copyright C is small and the font under his projector matches my known Glencoe rifle guys. Also looks like the cord had to be re-shaped and they didn't quite smooth it out perfect like on the other two. The green figure's indicators match the chromed guys including more curves in his device cord. Only explanation for not looking closer when obtaining it was paranoia over keeping the cord intact. Bubbled him up and found other things to focus on.

Poor robots. Someone had to work at getting those heads off, at least a hammer blow maybe in a vice. The paint on the intact one looks familiar, if it wasn't for the chromes I'd have gotten out the Easy Off to scrub him clean. Is that a modification some company was known for doing?

Fixed the chromes up with helmets from the heap that slide on/off freely. I usually don't care for the helmets but these look so much more complete with them. Without they look like THX-1138 android servocops in that chrome.

I did have questions about helmets, are the ones with the bifocal sections unique to Archer or did Ajax use those too? Most of my Ajax's have plain helmets but there's some bifocals mixed in too. And, did the Archer females get a bifocal helmet? Head shapes on my females will only fit into the plain Ajax variety.

I also had a thought about the peg holes in their feet, and how they appear worn from repeated use.

Idea I had is if they were meant to peg onto a larger toy, like a huge space ship, it would likely be known. So maybe they connected to a display stand? Something you'd put on the counter next to or over the boxes of figures for sale. Also thought about how the set has four of six poses with no rifle guy or sentry, the two that usually break first. Store owner would be more likely to toss them out. The pile included two non chromed figures in those poses with the usual damage so whoever had collected them didn't mind broken gun tips.

Have enjoyed wondering about these again, any ideas welcome.

Store window display? Could account for the advanced yellowing to the helmets which came with them as well.
