Brian-

The following is from a letter that Joe sent to me with re-printed pages from Yonezawa’s 1968 catalog and Jacky Broutin’s book Les Jouets Japonais. We feel that close examination of these pages proves that Broutin added two pages from the 1968 Yonezawa catalog at the end of the 1967 catalog pages in his book, leading to some 1968 toys currently being listed as 1967 toys in Alphadrome’s Timeline. His letter is as follows-

Hi Don,

Here’s a 1968 Yonezawa catalog I won off of ebay last year.

Note how all the pages are set up the same: The “Y” logo at the top with the black bars at the top and bottom of the page and that “cat” figure on every page. There’s no mistaking that these pages came from this 1968 catalog

Now look at Jacky Broutin’s book. He adds pages 14 and 15 from the 1968 catalog to the end of his reprints from Yonezawa’s 1967 catalog but neglects to mention this fact. The pages from the 1967 catalog are set up completely differently.

This means that Acrobot, Martin the Martian (Krome Dome), Space Explorer, Telephone Robot and Atomic Robot (all marked “new”) Are not 1967 toys, but 1968 toys. Mighty robot did appear in the 1967 edition, that’s why it’s not marked “new”.

Bellow is a page from the ’67 catalog reprints in Broutin's book - note the page set-up.

This page is from Joe's 1968 catalog - note completely different page set-up. This same page is in Broutin's book at the end of the '67 catalog pages.

The other 1968 page that appears as a 1967 listing in Broutin's book. Again, the page set up is unmistakably from the 1968 catalog.

What do you think Brian?

Here's a 1973 Marshall Field & Company Christmas catalog:

[attachmentid=11024]

depicting Yonezawa's Acrobot (blue hands and feet variation):

[attachmentid=11025]

indicating that this robot had at least a five year longevity.
