This is a great thread Kirk. I never even knew these little guys existed. The build pix were great to see. It's always interesting to see the insides of the old toys.

They have a certain charm that I'm not quite sure would scale up.

🙂 and here is my first rendering - I understand that it is not quite there yet.

Still taking measurements of the plastic components and such.
Perhaps 98% complete?

But we still have this to consider...
Last question for the peanut gallery...  alphadromers.

Are both of the blue toys robots?
Or could it be that Delchan is an astronaut / spaceman?

My current feeling is that Delchan is not a robot.

Thoughts?

As Brian said, they both have little willies, so maybe neither of them are robots.

Well shit!    and to quote Andy on another thread...
  🙂

I am embarrassed to have missed such a great line!   From a dude (Brian) who has cracked sooo many great words!!!
You two made my day, lol.

AND!

You two can't duck out of pitching in a penny's worth of opinion on this matter,   good grief - this is a towering, question of the ages.

for me they are both robots- well- one has also a camera and a separate face- but why should a robot not take pictures?

Good move to take them out to disassemble and play- after so many years sticking behind that blister package- waiting for someone to free them.

Indeed!   thank you, Gernot!

Though, Delchan's "fingered" gloves hold sway for me.   I see them as the future odd couple 🙂

Delchan also has flexible sleeves in it's suit which points towards astronaut.

Great skill, Kirk. That was (nearly) what I expected

I've had a few other mock ups, but nothing as good as I've done above - ha!
I'm leaning on others now!

Lovely little ones...

Thank you!    Their presence in the cabinet makes some of the little ones feel large!

  • 2 weeks later...

The rattle back star drive in the chest is a common way to control the speed of windup mechanics and should do the same for the rubber band as long as the plastic gears can take the force.

Nice design just needs to be scaled up a bit.
