Joe K.
As seen in this Fall/Winter 1977-78 FAO Schwarz catalog: The X-7 Space Explorer Ship by Clover Leaf, Taiwan also matches the catalog image. The other X-7 Space Ships pictured in the DataBase have pilots that do not match the catalog photo. The recently ended bay listing #204093807475. 6Stelab9
Above the X 7 space ship, the robot looks to be a prototype of the Bandai Red Fighter super robot. The head and the body are the same but the colors are different. I don't think this one is in the time line. Interesting.
Joe K.
Here are the Database entries: with November 1977 dates. I think more research needs to be done to confirm that date and to determine if a different Red Fighter was released by another manufacturer . The FAO catalog image has the feet of a Blue Fighter and does not show side wheels. Perhaps a different FAO catalog listing will show more information (description and name of the robot). BanDai also released similar toys under the Motionic name. Here a different head was used on the Super Robot Red Fighter body: Still looking for a picture of Motionic Blue. 6Stelab9
In fact, apart from the head, all the body parts belong to the Blue Fighter. I have never seen this type of color combo. You can see the knobs to switch the side wheels. I have seen knock off of those toys but they are quite different. That's why I assume it was a prototype pictured in the catalog. And it could be logic with the toy in sale in november 1977 and the deadline to produce the catalog. Regarding the Motionic red, I don't think there is a blue counterpart fellow. I have never seen one or heard about one. Sorry about the disgression in the X7 post.
