robothut
Thanks Brian, that makes sense. Just glad its not my computer or browser. Good video for a toy that requires a tin total rebuild.
Joe K.
Well worth the effort.

Phil R
I admire the work put into these (total) restorations. That said , they changed everything. The colors, lettering and location, and possibly other accessories. This one must have been printed in different colors.
Brian..
Amazing technical skills. Like Phil says, the paint finish could have been a more sympathetic choice. It's stark blue and white rather than the muted shades and softer lines of the original. And the JEP lettering is positioned way off. Odd, given the millimeter perfection of the build. robothut
Yes re[ainting detail is not his strong point for sure. But if a rust bucket tin toy is lucky enough to get a rebuild then the next owner can do the paint job right and have a good base to work with. Always room for improvement. Eagle
I'm guilty of straying from accuracy myself. Even on full scale. I think when a piece deteriorates this far it's open to artistic license . It's what I do and some simply hate it. I believe it to be a far better fate than the salvage yard or island of misfits. Brian..
That's a remarkable restoration, Eagle, and the result is completely in keeping with the spirit of the boat. I shouldn't be too stuffy about authentic colours. I've just been asked for a number of the Houdini Q Robots in a variety of colours. Fine - but camouflage green and rainbow silk? Oh well, the customer is always right.
Eagle
Rainbow Silk..That one scares me. Camo,,I'm always running short. That boat was in the basement of an antique barn in Rochester. Dennis told me that three weeks prior [American Pickers ] was there and they both walked right by. That one would have surpassed their Coke signs. 1947 Feather Craft. The damage was done from a collision during the 48 Albany to NYC race. The driver was able to keep the bow high enough not to sink. It did sing at the dock after. Only one in existence as is was built for the race. The stars aligned that day. 3 Yrs to restore. And I don't mean three yrs of dabbling around. A lot of stump time,English wheel and Sheet metal brake time. It was a real challenge and a great project. One of the previous 58's made the Judges heads explode. The solar panels were the last straw. That one was damaged during a race...it had a fate much worse. It was rednecked . The Robots and toy restoration has a much more calming effect. Things don't get thrown and much Fewer Expletives.Except Phil's Giant peanut men.
