I couldn't find the purported 1946 date on any of the pages, but the images were interesting:

And now for the questions:

Could this Sky Gun be considered a Space Gun?

Is "Mercury Products" a forerunner to "Mercury Plastics", the manufacturer of the better known Martian Triple Shot Sky Gun?

Joe, how ya doin'? 

 

I could swear I have actually seen one of these come up for sale one eBay, several years ago. I would definitely consider it a ray gun, based simply on the advertising graphics.
