Lunik
May 1930 MECCANO, England, published the detailed plan for a robot phantasy model and supplied all parts required to build the toy accordingly from their modular construction sets. The model was called „Robot, or Mechanical Man“ at times when the term ‚Robot’ had not yet been common language. The robot‘s appearance unconcealedly was that of a machinery in humanoid habitus, not at all like a mechanical drive under human disguise. It featured electrical motor drive and parallelogram steering in the legs to keep the feet flat on the ground and enable a free shuffling stride. Golddalek
I found the May 1930 Meccano Magazine, what a wonderful publication!!...No wonder Man went to the Moon, engineers reading these as kids. However- I don'tr see the robot plans...I see all kinds of other things made with 'Meccano' (construction set, gears---pre-dating Erector Set, LEGO ) electric crane, an airplane, ...no robot, maybe it's another month?
