Eagle
Is there another collector out there with a Yonezawa Big Sherman.. I'd like to see if this was supposed to be assembled like this one. It is set up inside the hull electronics for Engine lighting,,tail lights and Pom Pom gun lights. But none of it was ever installed. This isn't the first Big "Y" toy like this...It seems like they got to a point of,,,oh hell don't wait on the parts,,just put it together. I need a photo into the Pom-Pom turret. Two tabs for mounting a jackshaft for gears to run the pom poms were never bent up from the factory. Another thing. If anyone has any junkers laying around,,I'll take em. Need some Boggies... Eagle
The tank,,as bad as it is, still had some original finish. It is a green wrinkle finish....Who knows why, but it kind of looks cool. So to duplicate it. Not so easy to find Wrinkle paint anymore and it is too sporadic to try it by painting lacquer over enamel..So I found one good paint put out by Seymour . It is in black. So I followed the direction and then overpainted it with Green Enamel 24 hrs later. It is tricky to use,,but works very well. While it dries, I'm drawing up a wiring diagram to add lights and functions that for some reason not installed at the factory..Odd as all the switches are there. I bead blasted everything so as not to dig into the corrosion. Then you build it up with 5 layers of filler primer. Figuring out how to activate the pom-pom function may be impossible. K-9
Nice restoration work Eagle! Does the bead blasting warp the tin plate or are you going easy with it?
Golddalek
So much heart & soul was put into the design, manufacturing of those old toys. Great work- look forward to your efforts.

No it does not..Neither does the soda blasting. I use a Speed Blaster ,,no need to load up the big hopper for small jobs. Not even gloves..Mine is almost 30 yrs old and has only gone thru 2 nozzles. My first Yonezawa tank had the autonomous transmission and was a nightmare ! It's the only toy I own that never gets activated after the repair.
