Space Car Identification?

Recommended Posts

I bought this plastic futuristic/space car on eBay recently and would like to make some replacement fins for it, but I can't find a picture of one like it anywhere online.  Could someone please help me out?

The seller said it had a broken wheel but the "friction" drive was working.  I could tell from the pictures that it had wires in it, so I figured at least there were lights on it.  When I took it apart to find where the batteries went, I found places for two C cells and a motor, a spark wheel, and a device for making the headlights flash on and off.  I got everything working right, and I think I can cast a replacement for the missing silver tail cone, but I need to have some idea of what the fins looked like before I try to make some out of fiberglass.

That's an attractive piece. It screams Hong Kong, but I've not seen it before. It there any wording on the base?

The one place that specialises in this 1960-70s plastic is Moonbase Central. Woodsy might have an idea.

Thanks, Brian and RoboCopy.  I kind of figured this was probably from Hong Kong, but there's no writing underneath it or anywhere inside that I could see.  That's a good suggestion about Moonbase Central, since a lot of their stuff is from HK.  I'll see if I can find anything out from them, but I sure haven't been able to locate anything even close to this one searching on ebay and google.

Thanks to Robocopy for locating this post. This is in fact a Japanese kit. There's a video of it running in the Japanese Blog Post.

Thanks to you and Robocopy for finding this; I hadn't considered it being a Japanese kit, although now that I think about it that's what the parts look like.  The fins I made for it aren't too far off, and what I thought were Gatling guns are apparently launchers for some rockets!  I'll have to think about making some of those.
