Cool rocket by Scott Nelles

There is this cool art gallery outside of Charlevoix, Michigan called the Bier Art Gallery. Among the many cool pieces by various artists are these cast bronze and aluminum works by fellow Michigander, Scott Nelles. My wifey and I go up there every year and I have been looking at this rocket for the last 3 years. I finally pulled the trigger and man, is it worth it. The rocket stands 14" tall and is made from cast aluminum (over 4 pounds!). The astronaut is solid bronze. Taking the astronaut out reveals a coin slot. This thing is a bank, too! How cool!

 

Nelles also makes a robot, ray gun (seen all over the net) and now a flying saucer with bronze aliens. He also does retro cars, toys, buildings and flying pig banks on wheels among other things.

         Yes, very cool stuff...I have the rocket and astronaut bank, and the robot bank. I want the saucer and aliens, but I'll have to save more money.
