I just got a neat little toy from Russia. It’s not particularly rare... they pop up frequently on eBay, but most are in poor condition. This one is pretty clean and still works.

It is a saucer type car, with a cosmonaut pilot, complete with a red star on his helmet. It is all plastic and measures 8 inches long, by 8 inches wide.

It is a friction drive, with some nice actions; as the ship rolls along, the chrome scanner on the top rotates, and the pilot looks left and right surveying the scenery. Additionally, the two yellow thrusters slowly pull into the ship, then pop backwards, in a repeating cycle.

I cannot read the Russian name on the chrome stickers. And there is nothing else but a maker’s mark on the bottom.

It’s really fascinating to watch it in action. My guess is, from the pale color of the pilot, a cockpit heater was not included in the budget.

Looks great. I too have seen some of them on eBay in poor shape. Nice to see one so clean.
