Two 3d printed and metal custom robots.

These are outstanding John and wonderful as a pair. Both have tremendous character.

I love the suitcases on the Space Traveller. Am I wrong or do the scaled up legs look to also have beefier linkage as a result of the resizing when compared to the ADAMs? it certainly looks robust.

The Astro-Bot MK II is just a great design all around. The robot itself is downright handsome in appearance. The lighting effects are especially fantastic and the slower motor really works wonderfully with the Astro walking design. As much as I love all of these aspects, the icing on the cake is the way the clicker sounds in the tin body compared to the 3D printed body of the Astro-Bot MK I. I think the slower motor adds a nice variant to the sound produced by the faster motor in the AB1.

Both of these are beautifully executed adaptations of two already great designs. Well done John. You certainly make it tough to pick favorites when it comes to your creations.

RoboDurby, the clicker in the MK2 version is a metal spring steel clicker as there was no room for the 3d printed clicker and sound box. So I just took a old wind up spring and re shaped it to work. Also since the robot only walks forward I could make sure the clicker worked best in that direction. Yes I like the slower speed also. But on the Astro Robot I was trying to copy the fast movement of the 1970's toy.

On the space traveler the linkage parts are supper beefy, I do not think they will ever break. I do worry about the arms and suitcases hanging off the sides when it comes to shipping the toy. they make for a lot of leverage that the USPS can use to there destructive advantage.

Those are fantastic, John - typical for you!

When I've packed some of the fragile Hong Kong plastics, I find it helpful to fold bubble wrap in between the legs, then also add some between the cases and legs / body.
I'm sure it'll all be great 🙂

I feel especially fortunate to be the lucky fella that gets to add these wonderful pieces to my Robot Hut collection. I simply love this pair and just can’t thank you enough John. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

Wonderful additions to your collection, John's combination of 3D printed and tin reproduction robots are stunning. I particularly like the MKII, it would be great to see a tractor tread version of this robot too!

Oh man, now that you mention it K-9, a treaded version would be pretty fantastic for sure. I really like the MkII as well, a real looker. But, boy the walking action on the Space Traveller sure is smooth and solid. Both are just wonderful.
