Brian..
I've added another version of the gallery program that drives the Robot and Space Toy database. Why? Well, here's the idea: you can have your own database. It's separate from the main database to avoid technical disasters. Yes, I'm good at technical disasters. I've just started adding a few files so that you can see the way the project can develop. Create your own collection, or your own specialist database. the only request is that there should be one item per entry. This makes it a useful tool for other collectors. A picture of a cabinet of robots is better posted in the COLLECTIONS area of Robot Talk. It's very easy to operate. you just upload an image and add a bit of test. If you're interested post here. I'll set up and album for you and send you basic instructions. Take a look. The front end is a bit clunky but that will be improved. Fantastic surprise Brian - a way to catalog our own small (in my case) database. Color me interested. Thank-you.
Brian..
Martian, trouble messaging you. You need to delete some messages from your message box. Your gallery is ready.
Martian Gil
on it - thanks Brian! Question? Will the database be view able & "searchable" buy non-members as well?
Martian Gil
I'm in the system and tried a couple of pics from my desktop, but their format was too large - no biggie, I can adjust that. Very cool Brian, thank-you!
RoboDerby
Hiya Brian. I’d love to check this feature out as well.
Brian..
The databases is searchable by everyone. Google will also index it. There's a 1 Mb limit on files. That's a 1000k - a MASSIVE picture. A decent jpg is about 150k Best advice is to view the image at 100% - you'll be amazed how big your images really are. Reduce them to about 1000 x 1000 pixels max. Roboderby - I'll get back to you asap.
Martian Gil
dialed some pixels back on my camera and have it working. This will be nice, Brian - thanks!

RoboDerby
I couldn’t imagine this site being more fantastic than it already was. But you have done it Brian. The User Gallery section looks wonderful and what a great way for all of us to keep track of our own collections. I’ll get mine going in the next few weeks when I can sit down and start putting together a cohesive and structured photo layout. As soon as I saw that you had done this, I immediately started hoping for creator specific databases for projects done by you, John, Andy, Marco and any other members out there currently making contemporary contributions. Looks like you are way ahead of me. Your database is already looking fantastic and I am glad to see your work in an easy to view cohesive database. As an aside, I really can’t wait to see that absolutely stunning Martian Robot of yours go into production. Whenever you are finished turning this amazing site into an unbelievably more incredible one, of course.
RoboDerby
One suggestion for your gallery Brian. Have you considered adding the year in which you finished these projects and possibly even the number of makes? Would be great for guys like me who are true fans of customs and 3D prints and who would appreciate these details for posterity and for adding the information to user gallery entries for items in our own collections. Martian Gil
Interesting thought Jeremy. an aside, but somewhat related(?) - this would be a great place to also store notes related to robots that members feel are significant and notable. Such as pieces obtained from special collectors, collections, auctions, etc. I'm not certain that everyone would want to keep provenance of all of their items in such a place - but it might fit the bill nicely for those who do choose to. It came to my mind when getting an image of that special Lilli that I got from Chilli. cheers,
RoboDerby
I agree Kirk. I definitely consider the people that I purchased my robots from to be part of the history of my collection, especially in regards to items purchased from fellow members. Alphadrome is and will always be a part of my own personal history as a collector. When considering printing out short bios and descriptions to add to items for display in the cabinet, it has always been my intention to include the name and Alphadrome username of the folks who sold them to me. I hold onto shipping labels specifically to keep a record of this information. Also, before my collection grows much more, I would like to also document the dates and order in which I have acquired the individual pieces in my collection. In regards to the database here, I would be sure and request permission from past and future sellers before doing so and restrict the details to usernames only. In the case of those sellers who wish to remain anonymous, I plan to use the words Private Seller, or something similar in lieu of specific information. What a great opportunity to create our own galleries that we can update and edit. Brian, thank you for this wonderful feature!
