Been meaning to post about this project but it picked up some legs on facebook so didn't want it to overwhelm the summer

( which it did anyway )

This was based on a design by Henk & the files were modeled by Brian

Despite some issues Managed to get 12 completed plus a prototype (#2 ) Brian Made the first Prototype

These have a 3D lenticular scene in the chest

Protoype #2 plus #3 & #4 have a vintage lenticular scene

The 2 protoypes have arm covers & Prototype 2 has hand painted Chrome Claws & glued on Shoulder buttons

The 12 production versions have shoulder buttons held on by adhesive putty

Print time was about 20 hours , then painting , clear coat , grinding for fit , custom box & decals took about 3-4 days to get a completed unit

Last pic is the first prototype

So we have

Prototype 1 ( which I believe is in Rangers collection & made by Brian )

Prototype 2 ( video on youtube )

#1 - Roboz done in a color change paint

#2 - Brian done in a color change paint

#3 - Steve

#4 - Marcy

#5 - Gernot

#6 - Marco

#7 - Claus

#8 - Kirk

#9 - Allie

#10- Mark

#11-Robert

#12- Dan

Thanks  for the kind remarks Tinplate Unfortunately the project is ended Actually made more than I had expected

MY printer needs its PEI sheet replaced & that's a big job , I ended up with a few extra heads just

to finish the filamet but everything is put away Don't have any more donor robots or filament

You can always contact someone that has one & ask if they are willing to part with theirs

There were alot of issues with the mech binding on it's own right of of the box so don't plan to revisit this

The donor robots themselves are sturdy enough but too inconsistent & required some grinding of a few parts to get good clearances

plus lots of hand triming, glueing making the boxes etc.

The lenticular image because of it's thickness also needed lots of finessing to get the chest frame to fit properly

For a small robot it took a ton of time....next time I'll leave it to the professionals

On a side note I love adding lenticular scenes to a robot

someone sent me a link to this software

Considering the possbility of making entire lenticular boxes :eeek: at least the covers

🤔, one of those boxes would have been good.

Paul I may have a 1 or 2 leftover Art pieces for the box , if you want to cover postage I'll mount it on chipboard if I have any left

but leave it up to you to cut it etc & build the bottom

Brian you can move this thread over to the 3D printed section if you prefer
