Volker
Now I do all Tin-parts sandblasted. But attention, move the Sand-Pistole not to near to the Tin- 15 or 20 cm distance is better

robert
Battery Acid?? That can't be the best way to clean these parts! Did that pit the metal? Also I was curious: I didn't see the hands in the picture. Did your robot come with the original rubber hands or do you need repros? :D
Volker
Hi robert, yes Battery Acid is the best way to kill your Robot. But I must say the robby is in better condition as I think before.Missing parts are - Yes the Hands, the Radar-antenna and one from the side tinstrips is broken. And I hope I can rescue the plastic-dome.so longVolker

Volker
Hello bob, well I sprayed the Robby two times in Silver, but the finish was not ok for me.Now I know how dificult is it to spray silver color. the filler must be absolutly without scrachtes. After the first spraying there was also to see some scrachtes ( verry littel but i saw it ) and after the secondspraying there was two dust-corns in the silver-color. now I decide to give the Robot to an friend of me- he is Modell-maker and he have a complett Sprayer equpment. ( please sorry for my English)Sorry that it need so a long time - I come Back .........roger-roger regardsVolker

robobob
Thanks for the update, Volker...I recently purchased a Robby in MUCH worse condition, missing many pieces, so I'm very interested in how your rebuild progresses....It will give me incentive, seeing your robot go back together... robert
Volker, you are getting there. Keep up the good work. Many of us are dying to see the finished product, regardless of time frame. Your pictures also provide a reference for future restorations so please continue with updates and techniques (as well as failed attempts) used in the restoration. If I ever try this I don't want to reinvent the wheel, just make it a little rounder... ;)
