Is it spacey enough?

Not in my opinion. I don't see space influence in the design or in the promotion of this gun. The text sells it as being just like a "real gun".

How about this one?:

It appears in a June 1953 issue of Toys and Novelties. Manufactured by California Moulders Inc. They also made the Thunderbolt Special:

I believe the name of the gun is Ray O Matic Target Pistol.

Space Gun? Not a Space Gun?

Joe,

Yes...and yes! It is a space gun and is listed in the database as the Ray-Matic target pistol. I own one, it's a neat little gun.

This is one I recently picked up that got no love, even with the "Space Atomic Gun" header card, atomic symbol on the grip, and futuristic design...the "Police Siren Pistol" graphic apparently killed it.

Joe, interesting gun, that...I've been watching this one for a while. It has been on the auction block several times, or at least one like it. Could it be a space gun? Possibly, it has a very unique shape. I have never seen a one-shot ping pong ball gun, but obviously only one will fit in that muzzle. It's a real puzzler.

One more:

from the November 15, 1967 issue of Toys and Novelties.

The UFO Wonder Gun sounds more like a space gun than it looks like a space gun.

Opinions?

Here's the upper portion of a sparkling tin toy weapon from a vintage toy catalog.

Before revealing the rest of the ad, I wanted to get your opinion of the "spacey-ness" of it's design:

(Those bands at the top remind me of the Forbidden Planet rifle.)
