Evaporust - Rust Remover (question)

 

There are several rust remover 'gentle soaking' products that claim to be totally safe for use on any item, as they only react with rust. I've seen Metal Restore demonstrated on YouTube and it appears it would be safe to use on tinplate robots without damaging either the paintwork or any old stickers.

 

However, in tests, Evaporust does a better job and it is both cheaper and available in smaller quantities.

 

Both products convert the iron oxide to a black residue and partially disolve it into the solution (as versus vinegar/acid or Coke, where you have to clean away the converted iron oxide).

 

My question is whether anyone has tried using Evaporust to remove pitting rust that grows on the metal tinplate robots in paint chips and scratches?
