roboz Posted January 5, 2017 Share Posted January 5, 2017 I have a wavy Alps TV spaceman box & would like to know if anyone has any tips to flatten it & do some basic repairs to minor tears It's not valuable enough that I would send it out I've heard Ironing mentioned is there a method to doing that which keeps it safe ? & what works best for the small tears Any tips appreciated Thanks Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
chilli Posted January 5, 2017 Share Posted January 5, 2017 Yep, cover it over with a flat cotton cover (t shirt cut open)with some sort of support under the card and steam heat away. maybe try on a new box first, making sure there is no deep pattern in the cotton. chilli Posted January 5, 2017 Share Posted January 5, 2017 Ha, it takes a lot to burn through the cotton, do not worry. Try on another box first. Turn down the power if you like but you need lots of steam, with the steam you will not burn the box. The hardest part is getting the lid over a firm surface to iron on. yea, wood glue and water. 50-50, or leave it a bit thicker.
