AtomicRobot
Is this a real vintage ? It looks like a repro to me. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Japanese-Collectible-Toy-Robot-Vintage-034-Robot-7-034-Tin-Wind-up-/221536663012?&_trksid=p2056016.l4276
Fineas J. Whoopie
It's a repro. The easiest way to tell a vintage robot 7 is by the triangular style wind key (as seen here). The repros have a butterfly style wind key.
Robotopia
Originals also say "Made in Japan" on the backside. It's interesting that originals of this toy rarely pop up on ebay, not sure why, it seems like it should be a fairly common toy.
Morbius
The flat key versions are in a new box now with round window, saw one last week on line somewhere. Don't think they've ever stopped making these. What's interesting is I took one apart about 25 years ago and discovered it was made out of a recycled printed juice tin. AtomicRobot
Thank you so much gentlemen! Those are great things to look out for ! Fineas, thank you for the photo and Key info, that really helps ! I'll keep an eye out for the Japan mark, Robotopia ! Morbius, When I was a kid, I took apart a robot to fix it,. It may have been my medallion attacking martian. Inside, printed on the tin, was labeling for canned meat . I thought that was really cool ! I'd forgotten about it till you reminded me, Thank you !
