Fineas J. Whoopie
Brian - I'm pretty sure the Space Ship you posted was made in China. I wouldn't be surprised if the Eastern European versions were actually the originals. I've never seen a Japanese made toy with this form so I doubt there is an ATC connection. Or am I wrong? Not impossible......
Blechroboter
Did we ever work out where those Holdautos started? The Holdautos (=Moon Cars) came from Hungary originally in the 1960s. Behind the iron curtain of the USSR a lot of those cars came from Hungary to the GDR (East Germany). Nowadays you´ll find them quite often on Ebay Germany. One or another seller told a short story like "I got it at christmas in the sixties". The earliest date I could read was 1964, but I don´t have a proof like a catalogue or something similar. Beside the common blue colour exists an orange litho version With different domes comes a red Holdauto Urauto Seldom seen ist this hungarian car The chinese repro comes also with a different box

Joe K.
. Usually, William C. Gallagher's book, Japanese Toys - Amusing Playthings From the Past, is the best source for identifying these logos. However, you won't find this "M" logo there. You will find it in either of his The Big Book of Tin Toy Cars books he co-authored with Ron Smith. Unfortunately, there it is listed as "unknown". If Mr. Gallagher doesn't know the origin of this logo, it will probably be unidentified for years to come. .

Fineas J. Whoopie
Perhaps the manufacturer is Yone (see pic of related space baby robot toy, thanks to Marco) and the mystery mark is that of an importer?
Brian..
Request for a better picture of the HWM rocket - not the bank version. I had a better image but it was missing its tailfin.
