kennetzel
Pretty cool. The robot looks like something out of George Pal's Puppetoons.
Phil R
I love it! What intrigues me just as much is the room itself. What the heck is on the walls?
kennetzel
THe walls remind me of acoustic tiling...to sound proof a room. My brother was in radio when he was alive and there were times I would go with him to cut a spot for a commercial and the walls would have stuff like that on it to absorb any echo's or reverb. Some people actually use egg cartons just like on Hee Haw. The odd shapes add more surface area giving you more sound proofing to a smaller spot. robothut
Here is some info on building 12T at GE. Building 12T, an anechoic chamber for audible sound testing of large transformers, was dedicated. This is a poured concrete structure which still stands to the east of Building 12Y. A special railroad track was run between this building and. Building 12Y to transport the transformers via a "donkey" locomotive. if you want to see some really spacey pictures of Large transformers check out this site. http://www.ieeeghn.org/wiki/index.php/Archives:Transformers_at_Pittsfield,_part_1

robothut
The same robot in 1954 but different float. The robot shoots popcorn balls out of its gun ! The October 1954 Popular Mechanics spread on Halloween parades featured two, knock-your-socks-off floats built by junior mechanical engineers....this, ladies and gentlemen, is a rocket piloted by a robot that shoots popcorn balls out of its ray gun turrets. WOULD YOU BELIEVE! found it here. http://shewasabird.blogspot.com/2012/10/halloween-on-parade-1950-1955.html
