chilli
Hi all just received my second Robby the Robot. I need to change the piston band. I have dismantled about 5 horikawa's, fixing switch's, making guns work and so on, so I am quiet happy tinkering about. But this is a very nice robby and just wanted to check what to look out for and does the rubber just slip over pullies or is it more complicated. Also for a future project how difficult is it to remove, intact , all the outer panels of a robby? Any links would be helpful before I start. Many thanks Chilli

chilli
Thanks Joe That is fantastic, just what I needed, thank you so much. Luckily the robot is in near perfect condition as regards mechanics. Had not been run for decades but with very little encouragement , a quick shudder, walked back into the present world. The belt dropped out in pieces but robby lives. I will take apart to fit but the perfect preserved body panels have dents. Must have been dropped down stairs when new and never used. The box is so good it is untrue, but yes, original, the right amount of base yellow below his feet and staples. Also all the pieces of cardboard protectors. The tricky bit is to sort out the damaged panels , so I will need to remove most of them. I have a wonderful old engineer who is happy to straighten them, hopefully without needing paint ( he also built up the variable multi armed device from my design for a 5 solenoid macro water collision device, if interested see the results of the my water drop machine they are here https://www.markfoll...er=experimental) We need more people like this but they are all retiring. Anyhow back to this project. How difficult is it to remove all the panels inc. the leg panels, I know I will have to remove the battery cases but they are perfect so a bit easier than a rusty item. Thanks again for taking me to such a detailed answer. Regards Chilli
