Brian.. Posted August 21, 2013 Share Posted August 21, 2013 I trawled through hundreds of copies of the Eagle comic to establish that this is the first of the Dan Dare guns. It is mentioned in the issue for 1st August 1951. I didn't realise that there are two box versions, though. It's not the most elegant of guns and looks pretty basic when up close, but it has those great early graphics to compensate. The catalogue picture is from the Mettoy 1953 catalogue that Joe posted recently. The gun is a litho variation of the 1950 Commando Gun (bottom).
