Tinplate6
So, what exactly has TP been up to the last year or so? Well, you are about to find out. Although I still have a few tweaks to make here and there, I think it is ready for the public. I have finally finished my cave, and the tour starts now. Welcome! C'mon down...watch your step please. I have placed on display the very best of my collection, well, all that would fit anyway. I placed all the robots at one end of the room in glass cases. Punctuated with a few movie posters. Fortunately its a really big room. If you swing around to the other end, you'll see the ray guns. Yeah, I have a few... I mounted them on clear plastic peg boards; now, granted, it's not the most elegant solution, but it worked for me. I think it gives them a sort of industrial look. Tinplate6
Finally, in the middle of all of this...is the bar. Yes, I thought I might be entertaining at some point, so I installed a fully functional bar. It is a true recreation of a turn of the century pharmacy...everything is authentic. This was my first love before space toys. It took 4 months to create but I think it was worth it. And of course a big screen tv, unfortunately, that's vintage too. I like the artwork. Now, if I could just find some thirsty robot and space toy collectors...but where? Hmmm...

Electric Robot and Son
Wow.............Wow. An amazing collection, beautifully displayed! A lot of space guns I don't recognize. The largest display of space rifles I have seen. The bar looks great too. Did you make it? The only thing we need are some more closeups....and a beer. Tinplate6
Joe, now that is a complement! But, Botstock 11...at my humble home (with a 2 acres), gee...gosh, I don't know that I have ever thought about it...ummm...ok!! Electric, thanks. I can't get you a beer through the internet, virtual reality ain't that advanced, but I can provide some more close ups. I'll post some bot-shots later. Tinplate6
Thank you guys, it was a labor of love, I can assure you. An interesting story on the glass cases. I had an idea as to how I wanted the room to look, but almost every glass show case I saw was way above my level of the food chain. Finally, I looked into a company that Joe had recommended for quality and price...IKEA. Yes, I checked out a store in College Park, Maryland and discovered the Detolf glass cabinets, which are priced at the ridiculously low $64.99 each! Fantastic! Unfortunately, they were just 18 inches too short for my tastes. So, I had to get creative. In this picture, you see the box stand that T-28 is displayed on; it is called the Expedit wall shelf for $19.99. Well, I took that box, tipped it up and mounted the Detolf on top, creating a well balanced showcase for a total cost of $84.98 each, when the cheapest case on line was over $200. It was the perfect solution. My only complaint is that the shelves are not adjustable, so big pieces will eat up two display spaces. Oh well, beggars can't be choosers. As for the clear frosted peg board panels...I bought those on eBay from A-Rack-It. They are really durable and come in several different shades and sizes. I chose clear so as not to detract from the multi-colored space guns. However, as always, there was a catch...the peg holes and pegs also required some thought. I had to use 6 different types of pegs to accomodate every kind of gun style. And getting them properly spaced and straight took literally hours to get right!
