ZOMBIES OF STRATOSPHERE

About 3 weeks ago one of my client's contacts came to my house to deliver some items to restore.

After we discussed the work he told me he had something to give me from the client. When cleaning out the inventory in their old location they discovered a Herb Deeks Martian Rocket kit from the PAST FUTURE SERIES and they wanted me to have it for some favors I did.

What a gift. These models were made more than ten years ago and this one is a little hard to find. Herb Deeks did resin kits that were well made, including Commando Cody, Flash Gordon, Rocky Jones, Tom Corbett and Space Patrol, among others.

The 11" Martian Rocket is actually from Zombies of the Stratosphere, 1952, a B black and white movie that featured Leonard Nimoy as one of the Martians. The kit includes the resin rocket, a metal ray gun, a plastic dome for the gun and door/steps. Although the rocket is normally done in silver I decided to go the direction of the colorized version of the rocket in red. The rocket is metallic red with front silver fins and 4 black trim stripes. I displayed in on a metal piece I had mounted to a chromed wire fan shield. The flame exhaust is painted carved wood.

What a great gift Phil. They knew you would do it justice.

Wonderful job! Love the red/silver combo and the flame.

Nice job Phil! Great looking rocket. I agree the red and silver really make it standout. Was that a rocketman or commando cody serial?

Joe, the movie was meant to be a composite of the second series of Rocket Man, but instead they used the rocket suit with another actor, Larry Martin.
