Phil R
you may have seen my previous closeup diorama Jim and I did of Ming's castle and rocket. This diorama is an extension of that with a panorama view of the castle with rockets. As you may know Alex Raymond's art on Flash Gordon had the wayward planet Mongo approaching Earth. Hence the reason for Zarkov's plan to rocket to the planet. This diorama depicts the palace with earth in the background. The palace was again made with wooden parts placed on a plastic relish tray. I used the leftover scenery from the War of the Worlds diorama. The rockets are from a large lot of painted wooden parts I bought. Also used for the rockets are electrical connectors and bits and pieces of plastic. I opted to make all the rockets different for a 1930s artsy look instead of a same style fleet look. Electric Robot and Son
Looks really cool Phil. The rockets look great circling the palace. Where do you display all the great dioramas you have created? I think I recognize the starry fabric. My wife has a big collection of spacey fabrics left over from my sons bandanna days and her quilting days.
Phil R
Joe, four of the dioramas are displayed in the basement family room and workroom. The large ones have a yet to be determined location. I would like to display them at a toy show in November. I'm going to do a book of them on Shutterfly.

JimK
I really like it Phil but I am feeling a bit left out on this one. I really like the rockets. And your color choices really bring everything to life. Good work as always. JimK
Phil R
Jim, I had started this one before we even started the War of the Worlds and decided to finish it. I've been trying to decide on another project. Right now I started one of the 4 models kits I have. It's the Mars Liner, the same as the rocket Constellation from Disneyland. I spent a lot of time at Disneyland in my younger days. Can't wait to see it. Let me know if ya come up with any other great ideas for projects.
