A new one, and an interesting item for the database. Recently finished auction with a $400 price tag

Link Meteor Saucer (There's a video of it in action along with many photos)

"ultra rare vintage c.1960s battery-operated flying saucer with robot driver space toy. "Meteor" by Palart, Poland (a diversion of KO Yoshiya, Japan, made exclusively for Eastern Europe) When is turned on, the flying saucer starts exploring the space, turns in circle, lights up in red and green and makes a noise. It has an on/off button on down side and works with a 2x 4.5V batteries. Battery cover present. Made of plastic and tin. Comes in its original box.

The KO connection is obvious

the one I have is missing the antenna, is made of plastic, I see NO TIN material, except for

the fins (Metal) It does look like the KO saucer but cheap made, I always thought this saucer was made

in Hong Kong in the 80's, you can see the mechanism in between the top and the base, also

inside the battery compartment there is no box or case to hold the bateries or maybe mine is lost, the green (pistaccio) color is not common and the driver is an astronaut or space man, not a robot

I could not find any marks of the maker, still is a very nice saucer and the Box is something I never seen.

congratulations to the winner !

I am curious if the wording "a diversion of KO japan" was supposed to be "a division of KO Japan" ? Is there any proof of an official connection between this toy and Yoshiya? My feeling is that it's a knock off.

Interesting about the price. This toy was originally listed with a buy it now of $500 with a best offer option. I sent an offer of $425. The next day the buy it now was changed to $1,000 and the seller sent a counter offer for $750, at that time the listing showed three offers on the table. I declined. Now it shows the toy sold for $400. Odd.....

The toy is pretty rare and I have never seen the box before.

I also watched that auction. Very nice saucer and rare box! The name METEOR would also sound good to german ears - HUKI made a sort of tin toy airplane with that name - but obviously this saucer is made in eastern Europe. When I remember correctly GERNOT had one for sale mayn years ago?? But I had never seen the box before. Hopefully you will get another chance one day, DON!

  • 3 years later...

Hello SpaceToyFriends,

my collection is more about down to earth cars (Corvairs, Fiat 130 and concept cars) but for many years a UFO was also part of it.

This thread turned it in a IFO.

It is similar to the Meteors described here, has the less popular plastic antennas and it's upper body is yellow.

Can anyone tell me if this colour is common?

There are several different variations of this toy beyond the main color. My example is yellow on top and blue on the bottom. The tail lights are all green unlike yours which are red and green. Also mine has a completely different pilot than yours, so far mine is the only example with this style astronaut I have seen. Yours has the style of astronaut I see most of the time on these saucers but usually the pilot has some painted highlights. Also the colors of the plastic pieces that make up the control panel vary. I couldn't say which color is more common since this toy seems to pop up in a different color each time I see it. And your battery box is correct.
