I've recently gotten a few new pieces but had camera troubles which stopped me showing more than just the vendor photos. This week the camera fixed itself up ???? so I've taken some photos.

The first, is my third copy of the Holdson Destination Moon game. This one is my first complete one as it has tthe accompanying box, dice shaker, dice, counters and instruction sheet. This game was released in New Zealand sometime in the 50's. Most of it is fairly standard material for Holdson games of this period - little box, tiddlywink type counters but the graphics on the board are just such an excellent example of space graphics from this period.

The next one is a lot more modern being made by a Chinese company called Hinstar in 1993. It's from their Galaxy Wars series. I don't know what it is about these pop up/out toys but I just enjoy them for some reason. The box is in a dilapidated condition and I'm missing the 6 mini robots but otherwise it still springs open and has all the attached pieces. The other interesting thing about this is that the "Quanta Crane" shown in the picture is not what is on this toy. In the picture it's a claw type grabber on a rope you could raise and lower. On my one it's just a plastic representation of a crane hook and is actually cast as single piece with the crane. I wonder if they changed the design because of concerns that a child might swallow the loose crane piece.

I also managed to pick up two more Moldex spacemen. The gold/bronze one I went for because it's a hard plastic version of one I only had in soft plastic. The green one I went for because I couldn't let it go, as the price and lack of bids made it worth getting.

Well I've added another Hinstar Galaxy war piece to my collection. It's the Apollo Station or at least that's what I think it says the sticker with the name on it is very worn. Like my previous piece it's missing some robots and this one also has a launcher on the top for some type of spinner disc. I'm still not sure what attracts me to these pieces when other space pop ups don't.

Well I've added a new Hinstar Galaxy War spaceship. This one opens up to reveal the interior of the spaceship and came with 4 robots each about 20mm (3/4inches) high. I still haven't worked out why I like these and the small ships and figures from the Soma Star Rider series.

So far I've identified 5 other robots besides the ones I've got. They seem to be a standard 90's type robot with a touch of Transformers to them.

There are also two more spaceships I know of to collect. One's a flying saucer and the other another style of spaceship.

Those ships are really quite beautifully done especially for smaller size toys, sort of a Littlest Petshop in space. Sets like this couldn't last that long in the hands of kids and the smaller pieces would be lost quickly. I recall *Altaira had a 'Pocket Polly' set and some of the pieces were incredibly small and you'd be lucky to have a full set left within the week.

These are really neat! Thanks for posting them, something I've never seen before.
