Posted October 11, 2010 Share Posted October 11, 2010 The staining on this very simple, type-written instruction sheet is the result of the grease and rust from the base plate of the first version of Robert the Robot sold in 1954. The cotter pin prevented the cable from disengaging. In Versions II and III, the tip of the cable was redesigned with a small spring to keep the coupling together in lieu of the cotter pin.
