Tinplate6
I discovered this little treasure on our favorite auction site...if I was to take a stab at dating this, I would say 1960's. The toy is a masterpiece in miniature, a nice retro styled rocket with a very well sculpted astronaut. The clear nose cone is removable so you can get to the figure inside. This stands all of 2.25 inches tall! The details are so fine there is actually a face on this figure, amazing! You'll have to forgive my "atmospheric" pictures, I'm not too good at micro photography. ^_^ There are no markings anywhere on this (where would you put them anyway?). If anyone has information on it, please let me know...Blechroboter are you listening?
Blechroboter
:ninja: Blechroboter calling... :ninja: Blechroboter calling. Yeah I´m here. It´s from a cardboard game. Several rockets in different colours. Believe it comes from the former GDR (East Germany). Will do some research.

Blechroboter
Here we go: The cardboard game was called "Fahrt ins All" (= journey into space). It was made by Gräfe in 1966 in the GDR.As far as I know, there are 6 cosmonauts with their rockets in blue, red, green, yellow, white and brown. Each cosmonaut has the same colour like his rocket. The game starts at the "Pionierpalast (= Palace of pioneers. It´s a typical term from the GDR )and leads in 30 steps through the "Kosmonautenschule" (= School of Cosmonauts)Perhaps a personal annotation about an odd use of words in West and East Gemany in times of the cold war.Until early 1960s the term "Raumfahrer" (= space man, translated word by word it´s space driver) was the usual word.Than in West Germany we used the american word Astronaut. At this time the word Kosmonaut was spoken in East Germany. It was so strange, more it was scary that both the parts of one country used two different words for the same thing. Don´t forget both words came from outside, from the USA and the USSR. It´s not the same like two different wordsspoken in several parts of the country. It was a question of heteronomy. I´m glad it´s over since twenty years.

I don't suppose there are any pictures of the board game itself or the other pieces?

solaar
Great recherche Blech! The game starts at the "Pionierpalast (= Palace of pioneers. It´s a typical term from the GDR )and leads in 30 steps through the "Kosmonautenschule" (= School of Cosmonauts)Some additional info for our non-German-speaking friends (ha, sweet revenge ...) :)"Pioniere" was a youth organization of the SED (Socialist Unity Party) in the GDR. There was quite an ethuastic interest in space flight in the GDR, especially with kids and youths.Children would form special Kosmonaut-groups in schools, preparing for their very mission in space/Kosmos. Meanwhile they were producing paper-crafts that would eventually be exhibited in school. So the way leading from "Pionierpalast" to "Kosmonautenschule" would be the dream of any kid in the GDR in the late 60s and first half of the 70s.
