robothut Posted May 30, 2010 Share Posted May 30, 2010 Patent appiled for in 1981 and granted in 1982. This seems to be the patent for the WALKING ROBOT & Power Marchers robots. Its a gyroscopic robot walking design, the cup like legs/feet just go up and down and the gyro hold the robot level and provide forward inertia. The first version of this robot I saw and bought was called WALKING ROBO and came in a tube like box from Japan, then later the toy was sold by Tonka as there POWER MARCHERS. I was told once that the robot was also sold in Japan as a kit and the plastic body was see translucent so you could see inside. One of the coolest things about this robot "besides the walking action" is the sound it makes when you turn it ON, hearing that Gyro getting up to full speed is something!
