dratomic Posted May 30, 2010 Share Posted May 30, 2010 This isn't for the toy -- the first toy, made by Kenner, didn't feature the third leg. This looks like the patent for the robot itself. Ralph McQuarrie was the original production designer for Star Wars and drew the early versions of all the characters and vehicles. I really like this version of R2. It's so simplified... phase pistol Posted May 31, 2010 Share Posted May 31, 2010 I note that "Mr Atomic" is cited on the R2 patent... is this because you have to show that your thing is an improvement on another thing, in order to patent it?
