robothut
I scratch built this 12 inch tall Target Earth robot from card stock , resin and some metal. The eye and side lights flash. The first version I built has very symmetrical bellows hose legs and looks great but I wanted to see what a more real world leg hose would look like with the ribs of the bellows hose closer together. Both version have there strong points. I will be useing my new dimentions to replace my earlyer full scale Target earth robot that was a bit thin and realy needs to be bigger than life to display well. Will keep you posted on the big project. Here is a link to build page on my web site.http://www.robothut.robotnut.com/targetearthpagescale.htmlNot as complicated as my paper craft "mixed media" Tobor The great scale model a few years ago. here is a Alphadrom link.http://danefield.com/alpha/forums/index.ph...tobor+the+greatSome links on my web site about scale Tobor.http://www.robothut.robotnut.com/ToborWalking.htmlhttp://www.robothut.robotnut.com/ToborScalePage.htmlhttp://www.robothut.robotnut.com/ToborRemoteScale.html

robothut
There are 3 button cell batterys and a power switch for the lights mounted to the top of the leg assemblies.
robothut
I made a master foot part then a sil putty mold from that so I could cast the 4 feet I would need to build two robots. The master foot is built from card stock , resin and wood. I spent several days working just on this foot to get it just the way I wanted it. robothut
The new leg bellows assembly. Here I pushed the bellows ribs closer together and moved them around so that they had a more real world "non symmetrical" look. also a little wider at the hips and deeper in the crotch. Not sure what legs I like best. robothut
Both robots side by side. The first robot has tinted LEDs for the 3 head side lights, the second robot has just standard red LEDs for the 3 side head lights.
Andyman
Very cool, Mr. Rigg. I can't decide which legs I prefer.
Eagle
Man I like this guy ! John, where did you get the bellow hose ? What are you building the full scale from ? Do you have a pattern I could purchase of the robot from the legs up ? I have an idea. Glad to see your able to use the shop.
JimK
Very Nice John.Yet another robot that I need to add to my movie star robot wall. Keep up the good work.JimK
Tinplate6
Whoa! :o Really nice robots (like anything you make wouldn't be, right?) Personally, I like the one with the smaller hips, the lighted eye just tops the cake! Great job John! :)
robothut
The bellow hose is the same stuff I used for the Alphabots arms , it comes from a dollar store funnel with flex hose. I scaled the model to the hose. If I could have found a nice looking bellows hose just a little bit larger then the robot would have been scaled to that. Morbius
I prefer the wrinkly ones more, more realistic I'd say like the LIS 'bot.

robothut
You might find this intersting. The legs and feet from the Target Earth robot "1953" were used in a film called Creation of the Humaniods in 1962. if you have the dvd just go in about 3:30 minutes and look for the robot they call R-20. here is a side by side of the target earth robot and the R-20. JimK
Interesting. I would assume that this happened alot in those days. There was a topic a while back about the changes to the robby jeep after FP. Very cool stuff. Not that I am wantng to get another Alphabot situation started here, but if you where willing to make one of these guys for someone that loves movie robots, What would one cost him or her? Just wondering. :D JimK
