robert Posted February 4, 2003 Posted February 4, 2003 Hi all, I was just wondering, how can you tell an original Horikawa battle robot? Do they have the Horikawa logo on the leg or body somewhere? Where would I look? Is there any physical difference between the original and the repros? Thanks guys! :P
SH MIKE Posted February 4, 2003 Posted February 4, 2003 The "Battle Robot" was a creation of "Vintage Toys". They just made up the name muchlike the rest of the book. The Robot in the photo on page 111 is a Chinese copy of the 80s Horikawa Star Strider in Silver. There are many colors of the Chinese "Space Walk Man". They are also called the Millinium Robot (some with top light that works). the original Space Walk Man was $17.00 in Toy Shop in the 90s. That is what is pictured in Vintage Toys. The only Robot Horikawa (Metal House) made with antennas in the ears was the Star Strider in the 80s. That may have been the first Collectible Robot made for Adults. Pre dating Osaka Tin Toy Instatute. there are no Springs in the Battery Box on most vintage Robots.
robert Posted February 4, 2003 Author Posted February 4, 2003 LOL! Thanks Joe and Alain for updating my data banks. "Vintage Toys" was the first robot reference book I purchased and I was not aware that it was held in such high esteem by those in the know! Of course I now have the kitahara books and others so I have moved on, but that would explain the sole reference to Battle Robots in "Vintage Toys" only.
