ToyMemories
Thanks, as always, Doc! I'll try to keep 'em coming Andy... it saddens me too, but I can barely move here as it is! But really, I am always on the hunt, so maybe I can lessen the gap a little (if my wife doesn't leave me first!) ToyMemories
For some strange reason I thought I had added these pics... but apparently not! The following pictures are pieces all from Multiple Toymakers original vintage sample archives, and are test-shots and samples. Here are the large MPC astronauts/spacemen with their separate accessories (most, if not all) still attached. When I took the pics originally, I alternated the colors to spice it up (I should have all poses in both colors) (the figures were re-issued I believe in the 1990's or early 2000's, and I seem to remember they were done then in gray, and not in original colors, but I could be wrong.) The last picture shows 2 very early samples, made before the mold was finalized. These guys are not necessarily in action-packed heroic poses, but I like them, and think they're pretty nifty. Kind of like "semi-action figures"
ToyMemories
And here, also vintage 1960's, original Multiple test-shots/samples, you have some of the ever-popular Fireball XL-5 playset accessories, in various colors. This includes the car, ship's doors, tanks, etc. and vehicle wheels (even some rare yellow versions!) (I'll try and add a few more pics of different pieces soon, if I can)
Electric Robot and Son
Mike, I really like the Fireball XL-5 vehicles. Thanks for posting. It is interesting looking at the MPC "space" figures of the 60's in comparison to the space figures of the early 50's. The 60's figures are much more realistic compared to the more imaginative figures of the 50's. I guess through the 50's the figures are based on science fictional concepts of space and by the 60's the transition has begun to reality based figures. ToyMemories
You're welcome, thank you, Joe! Yeah, the Fireball vehicles are pretty cool and unique (for you, here are a couple more pics of other colors!) Yes, you're right about that... it's almost like once they had an idea of what astronauts might actually be using the imaginative (and fun) designs started disappearing! I like most figures, but for that reason I'd prefer Tom Corbett style, which to me is just so much more cool Also shown below, a super-cool original dated bag of Fireball test shots (which I don't think were ever removed from the bag since back then! Yikes!)
ToyMemories
(yikes... 2 years since I added pictures...) Here's an original Marx Toys factory sample of the Colonel Hap Hazard action figure (he's just a little different than his tin cousin, eh? )
