Mosser Posted January 3 Posted January 3 Annual Summary: Happy New Year, alphadromers. I’m really happy to have joined this big family. It's such a pity I didn't join earlier, XD. I’ve just joined this hobby, and when compared to the collections of other alphadromers, mine really doesn’t measure up. From November 16, 2024, until today, I’d like to record the robots I’ve received over the past few months. Well, the story is quite magical. I’ve always had a love for vintage toys, and I used to collect Star Wars items. On November 16 of last year 2024, my partner and I visited the nearest BP Toys Fair Market in the UK, hoping to find some. But our attention was completely drawn to an Astro Boy from Osaka Tin Age, and we brought it home. Since then, I’ve become almost enchanted, starting to search online for information about tin robots, and that’s when I found this place. Then came the second, third, and more! Although most of my collection consists of reproduction robots, it doesn’t lessen my love for them. From that point on, every trip we plan now includes visiting local vintage toy stores. I even brought back an Alps robot from a trip to Spain. Thank you for reading this! There will definitely be more to come!
Jonydroid Posted January 3 Posted January 3 Nice collection Mosser i am still looking for one of those Metal house Screen Robot. Welcome
zebedee Posted January 3 Posted January 3 Nice going Mosser, be prepared to re mortgage everything you own if you haven't already sold it, you've done well in such a short space of time and welcome to alphadrome robot heaven....
6Stelab9 Posted January 3 Posted January 3 That's a great start. I look forward to seeing the next beauties you add to your collection.
Hymie Posted January 3 Posted January 3 Glad you've joined us, Mosser -- and you're off to a great start. By the way, I notice you've snagged a nice little T.P.S. Missile Robot. I have one as well. Don't know if you also acquired the box for it (or if original boxes inspire you), but I wanted to point out that there are several 1970's era small, plastic Japanese robots (like the Missile) that are still very affordable, even with their original boxes. You just have to watch for them on eBay or find them at online toy stores (Main Street Toys is often a good bet). I tend to favor the original fifties/sixties-era tin toys, but I've grabbed several of the later plastic models in large part because of their beautiful little boxes (not gosh-awful blister packs, but bona fide six-wall boxes), many of which have graphics evocative of their golden-era (fifties/sixties) counterparts. I've attached pics below of the Missile, the Yoneya/Yone "Robot Captain," and the Aoki "Silver Robot" (all shown with their original boxes), in evidence of my contention. Zebedee's right about the potentially-exorbitant prices of older robots, but these little seventies models can make for a nicely-affordable original-model entry point. Welcome aboard!
Hymie Posted January 3 Posted January 3 Whoops, just noticed that you do like boxes (and that you do have your Missile's box). Good show!

zebedee Posted January 3 Posted January 3 the price of those metal house robots is amazing you could buy some nice vintage bots for the money but you go by the golden rule if you like it buy it that's all that matters , love the cat in the window. I had star wars toys as a boy even had the jawa in the vinyl cape but they were just toys back then and got trashed , a crystal ball would've been great back then I'd have kept them all on card...

Thank you Hymie, yes I usually look out for the boxes of robots when I buy them, this one and Astro were both found at the toy market.

They do look good. But concerned about their original price, the point I'm more worried about is that maybe the same one will be come up later and you might just need get them for half the price. After all they are reproduction robots, hahaha yes I have 3 cats at home. Protecting the robots in front of them is very difficult.XD
zebedee Posted January 3 Posted January 3 I know this seems crazy but some times you just got to go for it you may never see one again for years and you'd kick yourself for not getting the one you really wanted even if the price seems high , I've missed out by thinking I'll wait until another one comes up due to price but never has and now the prices of that robot are way higher than then and I can't find one now Mike robot by the way great plastic robot...
Mosser Posted January 3 Author Posted January 3 Mate you make a lot of sense, I guess at some point I need to go a little crazy hahahaha.
